Scope of the show
Although the ChelseaFlowerShow is generally regarded as the more prestigious event, its Hampton Court counterpart covers more ground, has more exhibitors and encompasses a wider variety of features and themes. There is a contrast, too, in the atmosphere of the two shows. Chelsea, it seems to me, is for serious horticultural devotees, for the garden design in-crowd, for fashionistas and for socialites. Hampton Court is more for the everyday gardening enthusiast, and for families. A day out at Chelsea can be impressive, aspirational or even inspirational. A day out at Hampton Court can be equally inspirational, but at a less rarefied level, and is much more likely to be light-hearted and relaxed. Of the two, I personally much prefer ...

I have to say this week I have really enjoyed watching the ChelseaFlowerShow. It has been on for an hour every night with one and a half hours on Friday. There is now a book to accompany the show telling you everything about the event.
The ChelseaFlowerShow is a yearly event hosted by the Royal Horticultural Society - It is by far the most prestigious flowershow of the year. You can get tickets from the Royal Horticultural Society website but they dont come cheap at over £40 (its cheaper if youre a member of the RHS)
The show starts on a Monday but the public arn't allowed in until Wednesday (after the prizes are awarded on Tuesday).

To enjoy the ChelseaFlowerShow you should have a passing interest in gardening and flowers, otherwise it will be rather dull and boring.
Every year there is the big competition regarding the best show gardens. Different companies have gardens designed and after paying a lot of money, are allowed to put their name to it.
Last year there were gardens by the Telegraph newspaper, BUPA, Savills and so many more. A special garden was created in memory of George Harrison with a lot of psychedelic colours and in parts a tranquil oasis. Celebrities were queuing up to be interviewed in the George Harrison garden, I managed to walk past it twice before I noticed what it was.
