A Bug's Life
As Flik, the goofy inventor ant, you rally new friends, collect seed tokens and stage ... more
berry attacks--all while trying to save an ant
colony from total destruction by a gang of nasty
grasshoppers. Remarkably similar to the film of
the same name,A Bug's Life Action Gametakes you
through an exciting 3-D adventure.An especially
fun talent of Flik's is growing plants from the

they give him special skills like jumping, flying
and invincibility. Sure to be a favourite is the
cannon plant, which actually shoots Flik on to new
heights. Creativity is essential in this
arcade-style game: to be successful, you must
think like an ant and use everything you find to
help you keep moving.Even though these ants always

Full review

This is an animated film made by Disney about an ant colony whose island home is terrorised year after year by a gang of grasshoppers who force the ants to pay them with food, in return the ants get to live and to keep there colony.

This particular year one of the ants,Flick who is so accident prone, accidently destroys the food that is to be offered to the grasshoppers, leaving the colony with nothing to pay them with.
Hopper the head of the grasshopper gang, gives the ants a deadline by which they must gather enough food to pay, knowing that this is impossible to do Flick leaves the colony in search of bugs that are big and tough enough to fight the grasshoppers.

Flick goes to the city and gets up to all sorts of mischeif and danger and he ends up recruiting the performers of a travelling circus who are willing to give it a go as there boss had just sacked them.

Flick takes them back to the colony and has to try and convince the rest of the ants that the travelling circus bugs will win the day for them, and again they get up to allsorts of different and very funny things.

A Bugs Life is more entertaining than alot of other films i have seen both animated and non animated and you soon seem to forget that the charaters are ants and that it is a childrens movie.

This film has been excellently made by Disney and the charaters and backgrounds are all very realistic. It is great fun for the kids and great fun for the adults too.

One last thing,if you ever watch this film make sure you watch the credits at the end as it shows some really funny outakes from the film,it is so brilliant the way it shows all the animated charaters making mistakes in there lines and so forth,a great extra to a great film.

Great entertainment for everyone.

...film by Disney and Pixar. A Bugs Life is just full of fun and adventure from the word go. The film is about Flik (voice of Dave Foley) who is an inventive ant tries to make an ants life easier, but unfortunately for him his ideas never seem to go to plan. another reason for multi region
Review of A Bug's Life (DVD) by utero

Advantages: great extras, amazing picture quality
Disadvantages: takes an age to get through everything

There's just something about a Pixar animated film that says quality. You just know it's going to be good without reading anything about it. This is because the makers concentrate on the story and characters as well as the visuals. A Bugs Life is no different. First you've got the outstanding CGI animation that is truly wonderful to look at. It bursts with colour and imagination. Then there are the characters such as a luvvie type circus magician ...
...with a bumbling brother and an ant with a clumsy knack for inventions. In this story the ants gather food for the grasshoppers until one ant messes the whole thing up leaving the grasshoppers very angry. Not able to gether up enough food in time the ants enlist the help of some circus bugs to fight off the grasshoppers only these bugs think they're just there to out on a show. There's a lot of humour which all ages can enjoy. Recently Disney have ... Read review

Yet another movie starring ants....
Review of A Bug's Life (DVD) by Sarah_Louise

Advantages: Funny, suitable for everyone, great graphics
Disadvantages: Very similar to Antz

...Christmas (it seems like such a long time....!) threw up a few good movies worth watching on the TV. It was Christmas 2001 when I saw Antz on TV, last Christmas, whilst flicking through the TV guide I noticed A Bugs Life advertised. I couldn’t remember whether this was what I’d seen the year earlier or not. I read the description, it sounded familiar. So much so I wasn’t going to bother watching it as I assumed it was what I’d ...
...It turned out it was a completely different movie altogether! Anyway, shall I stop rambling now? So, as you may have gathered, this movie IS similar to Antz. However, even if you’ve seen Antz, its still worth watching (well, if you liked Antz, Toy Story and other animated movies that is). You see there are subtle differences between Antz and A Bugs Life. Yes, they are both centred around invertebrates but the story line differs somewhat. ... Read review

The Best A Bugs Life!!! Review ever!
Review of A Bug's Life (DVD) by naryan1

Advantages:
Disadvantages:

I like A BUG’S LIFE. It is not TOY STORY. Of course it should probably never ever even be thought of together. They are different stories. This is a play on THE MAGNIFICIENT SEVEN more so than TOY STORY. I think A BUG’S LIFE is a charming film, a likable film. I just don’t love it. Why? The backgrounds are stunning, some of the best CGI work I’ve ever seen. The colors and textures of the Grasshoppers and the non-ant bugs are all stunning and beautiful. ...
...it. For me, this is a character actor film, where you have all these characters, but no central voice. Flick just doesn’t do it for me. If Flick’s character was fantastic, this movie would go through the roof with me, but it just didn’t do it. Sure, as it stands, I saw a rough cut of the film. The final music wasn’t in place. That could go a LOOOOOOOONNNNNNNGGGGGG way to helping Flick. Just imagine Woody or Buzz with out those song montages. They ... Read review

A detailed look at this miniature film
Review of A Bug's Life (DVD) by pakalang

Advantages: a brilliant film, fun to watch for every generation
Disadvantages: not much extras on the dvd

(It took me a week to get this into perfection! :) Intro ~~~~~ In 1998, the movie world saw one of the strangest battles in recent memory, with two entirely computer-animated features about bugs duking it out for box office glory. Having the benefit of first release was PDI/DreamWorks' Antz, which boasted a cast including Woody Allen and Sylvester Stallone (how's that for diverse?) and a nicely adult-geared storyline filled with political intrigue ...
...for its seasonal second-runner, Pixar/Disney's A Bug's Life. Despite Pixar's towering success with the first computer-animated feature, 1995's Toy Story, the initial predictions for A Bug's Life were grim. Just how many insect-centric cartoons can moviegoers stand in a two-month period, especially when the second wears a more kiddie-oriented finish? Well, A Bug's Life proved its critics wrong, smashing Disney's own record (a record broken by Disney/Pixar's ... Read review

The adventures of a bug!
Review of A Bug's Life (Deluxe Edition) (DVD) by  frankiecesca

Advantages: Fun, great animation and cast to support the characters
Disadvantages: None

...: Unfortunately this is another one of my Disney films I've not yet managed to get on DVD as I bought my copy back in 1998 when it first released and back then didn't even own a DVD player! So no extras here but if you are buying on DVD you can expect a variety of extras such as 'making of' and short Pixar cartoons amongst other things. Overall opinion: I really enjoyed A Bugs Life when I first saw it - in fact I liked it back then that much that I actually pre ordered it from WH Smith! I still do rate it highly as I like the idea of it - a whole world going on with the little creatures that most people stomp out under their feet! Only Disney could make a film about ants so much fun and contain so much comedy. I think the characters were well thought out and again they did well in who they picked for the voices making the film interesting to watch... Read review

Review of A Bug's Life (Deluxe Edition) (DVD) by  Allyalcock

Advantages: Fantastic film and love outtakes on Disk 2
Disadvantages: Can't think of any!

...of the early tests they did and how the film progressed. SOUND DESIGN: This bit is really good as it tells you how they came about the different sounds effects for different things in the movie and some of the things you wonder how on earth they ever thought of that! It includes the sounds they used for each bug's wings to match their character and things like that. RELEASE: This includes promotions, trailers and posters that were used to promote the release of the film. GERI'S GAME: This is an award winning short movie of a guy playing chess but that is all I'm going to say as otherwise I'll give the story away - you will just have to watch it! Trust me this DVD is worth it! The price of this in the shops is comparable to other DVDs but might be an idea to have a look on the internet too to see if you can get some bargains!! Enjoy...... A BUGS LIFE????????????
Review of A Bug's Life (Deluxe Edition) (DVD) by  p0327430x

Advantages: the cute little baby ant!!!!!
Disadvantages: can take a while to get into the film

...a bugs life is a little story of good versus evil! The evil grass hoppers force the ants to gather food for them and due to Flik (the main ant)'s misfortune and bad inventorship, this year it all goes wrong. There is not enough food for both the ants and the grasshoppers so Flik must save the colony from the fate that awaits when the grasshopper find out there is no food. He enlists the help of the "warrior bugs" who actually are nothing but circus bugs to help frighten the grasshoppers off . it takes a lot of work but in the end all is well, as with all disney films. This is a FUNNY film, you'll stick it on for the kids on a rainy day and get absolutely nothing done as you will be hooked. the fat caterpillar is an endless barrel of laughs and as for the ladybug HE is hilarious:) it has all you would expect from a disney film, music... DVD Description

The computer animation crew at Pixar--the creators of TOY STORY--return with another feature rife with stunningly rendered worlds populated by cute critters you can't help but care about. The story is simple--an ant colony led by Flik (Dave Foley) seeks help from a flea circus and other insects in their struggles against the oppressive grasshopper bullies led by Hopper (Kevin Spacey). However, as with TOY STORY, there is as much for adults to enjoy here as there is for the kids. (In fact, the story is loosely based on Akira Kurosawa's classic SEVEN SAMURAI.) And don't miss the wonderful "outtakes" that roll with the closing credits!
