DVD Description
A death-hardened cop (Leslie Cheung) battles the Hong Kong underworld, including his own brother (Ti Lung), who joins the bad guys and his former partner in crime (Yun-Fat Chow). This progenitor of Woo's ‘heroic violence bloodshed’ films introduces the theme of loyalties between men shattered by a violent world that forces them apart. Only through sacrifice can honour be attained.
Advantages: Movies like this make you think about our world Disadvantages: Another American style movie
.... In fact I can say that "the day after tomorrow" contains balanced fiction and science.
I will not copy-paste the story of the film (as many other reviewers do in their reviews) as it's easily accessible in any of the DVD websites. In any case, this review is not about the film itself... it's about the DVD.
***Beyond the film***
A two-DVD set is always better than a single DVD, as long as you like the extras. The first DVD contains the movie and director comentary. The second DVD contains all the extras. A one hour documentary film about human activities contribute in climate change, an one hour documentary about making the film, deleted scenes, an interactive game (gamers might say it's nothing much about that game, but they have to remember that DVDs are designed to run in DVD players, not PCs) and the film trailers. The two DVD set could...

Advantages: A better purchase than the nine-disc set Disadvantages: What is the melting point of cheese?

The plots of the movies coming from Danielle Steel's earlier books, such as Fine Things are better to watch as the characters are more real and not as contrived as later on, but any of these movies would do if you had nothing else to watch.
My personal favourites from this set are Fine Things and Heartbeat and I have wached each several times and would watch them again. I can't enthuse about them, as they are not the best movies I have seen but, boy, they are certainly not the worst.
The DVDs themselves are nicely packaged and the covers have recently been redesigned for this release. There are no extra features here, however, just the movies and on some of the discs a preview of all of the other movies in the series has been added.
In conclusion...

...if the best bond could be rated by looks along, i think remington steele would win the prize. although 'tomorrow never dies' does not really blow you away in special effects or incredible acting, one should go see it simply cause it's a bond film. michelle yeoh kicked bad boys butt and brosnan barely breaks a sweat...but it just does not seem to compare to some of the classics. perhaps the glamour has disappeared, or the sexual escapades have toned down...no worries, the beginning credits with voluptuous silhouettes won't disappoint. rent mike myers 'austin powers' after seeing this....
