Anyone who has seen US Marshalls, Murder at 1600 or Passenger 57 will be aware that Wesley Snipes is an oddity in the Hollywood world of action stars. Not only can he walk and talk at the same time, which seems to fox Schwarznegger and Van Damme, but he can actually act.
So, it is not surprising that when a new film starring Snipes is released, I like to watch it. Well, sorry Wesley, no more. Not after this load of tripe.

But, I'm getting ahead of myself.

Let's start at the beginning.

THE PLOT
Jack Tolliver (Snipes) and crew, pull off a daring robbery of an armed-car depot, and manage to steal 20million dollars and an extremely valuable Van Gogh painting. As they make their getaway, they get hijacked by the local Russian gangster mob, and most of them end up dead. Tolliver's girlfriend, who was in on the robbery, gets kidnapped by the mob and taken to their hideout.
Tolliver, narrowly avoiding death in the hijack, manages to escape by taking an English military policewoman (Tamzin Outhwaite) hostage. A daring and ridiculous car chase ensues.
Having managed to ditch the police, and the military, who are now on his tail as well, Tolliver decides to go up against the mob to get back his girlfriend and the money.
But all is not as simple as it seems, and Tolliver has to team up with his erstwhile hostage to get to the bottom of the situation.

PERFORMANCES
Snipes and Outhwaite are both wasted in this film. Their characters are indescribably weak, with action being the only priority in this film.
With this in mind, their performances are adequate at best, which is more than can be said for the other actors in this debacle.

EXTRAS
There are times in life when you have to be thankful for small mercies. This DVD is a shining example of this. The producers could have crammed the disc with 'exciting' extras galore, hoping to sell it to DVD nerds, but it seems that hey have taken pity on the poor DVD buying public and have left the disc completely devoid of ANY merit whatsoever. Ie. There are no extras at all.

OPINION & CONCLUSION
You know you are watching a duffer when one of the characters is called Spanky. Even more so when he is an ultra-thick Englishman with an exaggerated accent. When the local nightclub owner speaks with a comically thick Slav accent and the main villain is a psychotic Russian with St. Vitus' Dance (I kid you not), you don't know whether to laugh or cry, or even cry with laughter.

All these little things are in this film, along with a farcical car chase in which, at one point, the completely wrecked car of our 'hero' suddenly appears without a scratch on it.

My recommendation has to be :-
If you find yourself at a loose end one evening, nothing to do, nothing on TV………take up knitting.
If you get bored of knitting, and find your mind wandering to the idea of watching this film………….take your knitting needles and stab them into your eyes.
Radical advice. But in the long run it is preferable to watching this

Would I recommend this film?

Not on my life.
