DVD Description
This entertaining and unpretentious knockoff of THE OMEN, from the low-budget mad scientists at Asylum Pictures, stars Adam Vincent and Sara Lieving as Scott and Erika, an affluent couple who decide to adopt an adolescent boy orphaned by a plane crash (flight 7666, no less). Predictably, however, the kid (Boo Boo Stewart) is not exactly normal, and all hell breaks loose--although some viewers might at first find it difficult to accept an Antichrist named Donald. Clearly made with lots of enthusiasm and little money, Jake Jackson's Z-flick never takes itself too seriously, and with good reason.
Advantages: Cool effects, good storyline, scary. Disadvantages: This is not the director's cut
...Alien follows the story of a group of deep-space miners who are sent off-course to investigate a distress call from what turns out to be an alien ship. Subsequently, a creature manages to get on board the ship - I won't spoil it by saying how - and starts hunting the crew. It's all deeply traumatizing stuff, especially when to take in the fact that creature itself was designed by famously wierd artist H. R. Giger. The cast all put in sterling performances, and they're all sympathetic characters so it's sad to see any of them die. Believe me, you'll be on edge of your seat for this one. At least, you would be if you bought this DVD. The trouble is, I can't recommend it, despite all I've said so far.
Why? Because while this DVD is labelled as a director's cut, it is in fact nothing of the sort. Ridley Scott even goes so far as to...

Advantages: Keeps you thinking, fantastic storyline, you will want to watch it over and over! Disadvantages: You really do have to watch it to understand it.
...I bought this DVD from eBay I believe for about £7... This was a total bargain especially for a directorscut so shop around, there are definatley some good bargains to be had!
STORYLINE - This is one of my favourite movies of all time just because of the sheer high quality of pretty much everything. The story in brief captures the life of a teenage boy in 80s suburbia, living a life that could have been... Guided or misguided by his imaginary friend 'Frank', the film bring twists and turns throughout the period of which Donnie tries to find himself.
This film questions every persons take on space, time and reality... A seriously good film for people who like to think.
CAST - Everyone who is in this film e.g. Jake Gylenhall ('Donnie') is of very quality as far as acting talent goes. They really enable you to be drawn into...

Advantages: Finally its on DVD Disadvantages: lacks in the special features
...DVD that comes in a limited edition folding pyramid box, which can get annoying but admittedly does look cool.
Being a special edition the movie is the Director’s cut containing over thirty minuets of unseen footage. (Total running time 124 min)
The special features aren’t anything to shout about you get the obligatory Trailer and subtitles, the promo reel is basically a best bits of the movie backed with classical music. The audio commentary is by Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin, which give you an insightful look at how the movie was made.
The picture quality is anything you would expect from a DVD but what is cool is that you get a choice of 5.1 and DTS, which sound amazing.
If you are more bothered about special features then this may not be for you but if like me you see them as a bonus on top of a great film...
