DVD Description
Cliff Robertson portrays a combat-weary pilot whose R.A.F. squadron is ordered to destroy a Nazi rocket fuel plant tucked deep into a Norwegian fjord. Based on a true story.
Advantages: Good film, well acted and throughly enjoyable Disadvantages: Plot is somewhat predictable in places
...Based on the Wing Commander games on PC from the time when games came on several floppy discs this is a very typical space fighter style movie.
It basically follows the story of a small but elite fighter pilot team that all range from the ages i would say of 20-25. Freddie Prinze Junior stars as the lead cast member and plays his usual enigmatic style of character.
A vicious alien race, called the Kilrathi, have discovered Earth and are hellbent on it's total destruction. All that stands between Earth and this vicious new enemy are two young hotshot fighter pilots and their elite fighter squadron.
In an attempt to stop the Kilrathi from obliterating all mankind the brave young squadron go on a direct assault mission to try to stop the Kilrathi from reaching earth.
Inevitably it's the usual story of happy ever after...

Advantages: Great programme, very informative Disadvantages: None
...footage of the aircraft being flown for the first test flights is also shown. We are shown production line footage too, and other incidental "backroom stuff" that we do not often see. All very stirring stuff, really.
Colour footage is shown of the E28/39 prototype and we are shown the first flight of the Meteor which took place in early 1943. Incidentally, this shows how war can spur on the technological advances when the very survival of one's nation is at stake, as the Gloster Meteor took under three years to get from drawing board into the air.
There's some nice colour film of the first all-Gloster Meteor squadron, 616 Squadron, and some post World War 2 film is shown, one interesting piece is a mock attack by Meteor fighter jets against a flight of USAF B-29 bombers, simulating a Russian nuclear attack on the United Kingdom...

Advantages: amazing special affects Disadvantages: i believe you need an interest in this sort of film to be able to really enjoy it
...On a sleepy Sunday morning in December, as children played and families prayed, squadrons of Japanese warplanes screamed across the skies of an Hawaiian paradise and launched a surprise attack on the U.S. armed forces at Pearl Harbour.
The infamous day that jolted America from peaceful isolationism to total war, and altered the course of world history, is relived in this epic tale of patriotism, passion and romance.
Starring Ben Afflect and Kate Beckinsale, 'Pearl Harbour' is an epic sage of love and war which focuses on the life changing events surrounding December 7, 1941. It is a tale of catastrophic defeat, heroic victory, personal courage and overwhelming love, set against a stunning backdrop of spectacular wartime action.
This is one amazing film in all aspects - the special affects are so mind blowing and are second to none...
