I've always been a bit skeptical with fitness DVD's. I never believed they'd really achieve anything and that they were more of a "soft touch" approach to exercising. I'll happily admit that when I started using this DVD I was proven wrong. It provided me with a really tough and demanding workout that over time would really provide good results.
The DVD
You have five sections: Engage Your Body Warm Up: A routine that gets your body warmed up ready to take part in the hard work that lies ahead! Fat Assault Aerobics: Here you do a range of different things including cardiovascular exercises, streches, improving your flexibility, coordination and agility amongst other things. This burns off loads of calories as your heart is pumping and you don't stop being active! Combat Manoeurves: A very, very intense alomst military style workout where you focus on routines based around kicks and punches. Target and Tone: The section that focuses on toning your legs, stomach, arms and other areas of the body by doing press ups, sit ups and various other fitness techniques. At Ease Cool Down: A calmer section where your body begins to cool down by doing stretches to help increase flexibility and raise self-esteem.
We have Claire Richards and her fitness instructor Chris guidng you through the different sections. They do explain things to you but to begin with it was a bit difficult as they didn't say a lot, however, when you get used to the routine this is good as you don't want to hear the same thing over and over again. You don't have to do all of them to begin with however it's important to do the first and last sections to make sure you don't injure youself. If you don't feel you can do a certain move fully, Claire provides an alternative at times (just watch out for it!). Of course you get to move along to the songs of Steps so you have a little fun while trying to burn that fat! It definitely teaches you how to get a better body and as long as you stick to this you shouldn't have much problem losing weight. I'm doing this to lose half a stone and tone up so I'm ready for my black belt grading. Just to say, I have been doing Karate for over 4 years and I thought this would be easy but it's still very challenging for me! Just proof that it isn't an easy ride!
You get to see what went on behind the scenes as well as watch an interview with Claire explaining her ups and downs with her weight and how she finally tackled it. This is very helpful to watch as she gives you some really useful advice and tips to help you achieve your goals.
Value for Money
£7 from Argos, you can't beat that! This is probably one of the top fitness DVD's out there (based on recommendations by friends and weight loss institutions) and it's definitely worthwhile giving it a try. If it's not for you then maybe you could try Davina McCall's or Coleen Nolan's exercise DVD?
