50 Years Of BBC News DVD

Advantages: Hilarious
Disadvantages: Similar themes to both DVDs

...I bought this DVD after seeing his performances on the BBC and on YouTube, and it did not disappoint. Both "Part Troll" and "Cosmic Jam" have what distinguishes Bill Bailey from many other comedians - live musical performances - which add tremendously to the different comedic aspects of the show. It definitely helps that Bill Bailey is a trained, professional musician and this really comes through with his unbelievably imaginative and skilled playing. In fact, music provides the backbone of the both shows, and is certainly an amusing, soft relief from the continuous talk not seen in this performance. For those unfamiliar with Bill Bailey I think the most useful way to describe his style is more of an entertainer using the medium of music than a straight, stand-up comedian. Advantages: classic comedy, with classic lines!!
Disadvantages: might not appeal to all people!!

...with Alan Partridge at the hotel (It's not on Tv but it does have tea, wagon wheels and sue cook!!!) In this episode Alan meets his number one fan, with a room dedicated to Alan......oh and he has a huge tattoo of Alan....needless to say Alan is quite disturbed!! 6 - TOWERING ALAN Alan recieves some not so tragic news,,,,and all he wants is offered to him on a plate (trying to get back on tv) Tony Hayers dies whilst falling off a roof, and the new cheif at the bbc offers Alan a 5 year deal.....however he dies just as they are about ti sign....so what does Alan do...he forges his signature!! Advantages: great acting and special effects, moving, funny etc.

...The Christmas Radio Times is out! Not exactly thrilling news, but I always look forward to browsing through the pages to see what festive delights the TV stations have in store. The TV shows for Christmas don't look that exciting, unless you enjoy wall-to-wall editions of EastEnders, Corro, Emmerdale, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire etc. The films on offer, meanwhile, are some of the best that I can remember. And the best of a very good bunch is, in my opinion, Pleasantville. It's on BBC2 at 10pm on New Year's Eve, so set the video if you are planning on going out and paying extortionate prices to spend ages queuing at a bar (sorry, cynicism creeping in!). Pleasantville is described as a "fantasy comedy drama" - it's a bit like a combination of Back To The Future, The Truman Show and The Wizard Of Oz. The story is set in 1990s... Read review
