If you're looking for a consistent amount of 7/10 laughs, an easy-to-follow- plot and a predictable yet satisfying outcome, then 40 year old virgin makes a good purchase for you.
The predictability of the jokes and plot could get irritating if you're in an overly analytical or critical mood, so i'd recommend this as an after work or lazy afternoon movie where all you want to do is be entertained in a way that requires no commitment from you.
The premise of the movie- i.e a 40 year old, reasonably good looking guy that likes women but hasn't had sex- may seem improbable to some but i think it's a scenario that increasing numbers of guys, unfamiliar with the workings of night clubs or modern women are placed in
