The reason this film is a good purchase is that you could easily watch it again and again, so really is value for money. (have watched it 3 times in little over a week) I purchased this film from Xtravision in the sale and paid £13. Looking around you may be able to get a better deal.
The film stars the not very well known Steve Carell and he plays the role to a tee. His lack of knowledge is hilarious to watch and his attempts to woo the ladies bring plenty of laughs, yet he has a loveable and admirable side to his character in the film.
The plot is centred, unsurprisingly abround a 40 year old virgin who has given up all hope of ever sleeping with a woman until his workmates try to help him out. This leads to the pursuit of many women and him trying to pick up tips from the guys. Throw into the equation a woman he really likes and it makes for a very interesting film.
The film has the same sort of humour in it associated with films such as the American Pie series. It is cheap humour, but often this is the funniest sort.
Its not the type of film to watch with the family if your easily embarassed and certainly not a film certain people would enjoy. I would say this film could simply be viewed as rude and not funny by certain viewers.
Getting away from the plotline, the DVD itself contains plenty of bonus features if thats what you like about dvds. Personally as long as I see the film I am happy, but this comes with deleted scenes, as well as extended scenes on selected parts of the film.
This film is rated a 15, which I would agree with, although there are some risque scenes, there is nothing in my opinion that deems it an 18. There is strong languagae throughout however.
All in all a decent laugh out loud comedy that will pass a couple of hours of your time.
