3 Dick Tracy Films Of The SIlver Screen - Dick Tracy's Dilemma / Dick Tracy Meets Gruesome / Dick Tracy Vs Cueball DVD

Advantages: Great theme music, great peformances, great costume and settings
Disadvantages: Ordinary fight scenes, simplified plot.

...Dick Tracy directed by and starring Warren Beatty is definately worth a watch. The Costumes and settings were outstanding mainly because they gave the feel of the forties Dick Tracy comic strip. Al Pacino as scar Face was very amusing though don't expect him to be a true psychotic because the film is basically fun based for all ages. Warren Beatty and Madonna were excellent in their roles. Beatty really made the character alive through great acting and direction. The only problem with the film was that the fight scenes were ordinary and the plot may not keep some peoples interest. Danny Elfman theme was also a great bonus. The music really gave a nineteen forties feel. Great fun though.... Read review

...Dick Tracy stars Warren Beatty as the detective and one time real-life "sweetheart" Madonna as a sultry club singer. The comic book hero Dick Tracy is brought to life just like Batman, the difference being where the Batman films were dark and mysterious Dick Tacy is extremely colourful and mysterious. The city scapes are quite visibly drawn with the use of computer generation but this works well. Judging by the wardrobe of the actors/actresses the film is probably set in 1930's America, with the colourful, yet ugly, Gangsters of the film, the main of which being Dustin Hoffman as Big Boy, the gangster takin over the city. With an amazing soundtrack performed by Madonna this film is unmissable. "Calling DICK TRACY...the worldwide smash hit and most talked about film of the year. ...Dick Tracy" is filled with vivid images and colorful performances. The color scheme is nothing to be found in nature but is absolutely perfect for the film. The entire film is larger than life and the color fits it. If you can believe that such characters as Flat-Top and Mumbles exist, Gleanne Headley's character just happened to be named Tess Trueheart, and Madonna can act, than you can believe that Warren Beatty is young enough to play Dick Tracy. That suspension of belief is necessary. It is true that Al Pacino steals the show as Big Boy even though he only did it as a favor. However, if you aren't sharp you might miss great performances by Dustin Hoffman, Mandy Patinkin, and Dick Van Dyke. Charlie Korsmo proves once again that he is one of our greatest child actors as the spunky Kid. The movie could hold your interest plot... Read review
