Advantages: A Bucket of Blood and House on Haunted Hill

...A Bucket of Blood is one of my favourite classics. An enjoyable 'Wax Museum' genre that takes a slightly different approach. This time, the artist is actually very slow witted and has no talent, as you will see. He works at a coffee shop full of poets and art buffs and wants so desperately to join their world. So, one thing leads to another, and, if your familiar with the genre, you know how it goes. House on Haunted Hill is one of the great classics of all time. A brilliant classic, but is it horror or is it murder-mystery. To answer that question, i would have to spoil it. So, watch and find out for yourself, you won't be dissappointed. Unfortunately, The Ghoul is probably one of Karloff's worst. Karloff is one of my favourites, but he doesn't really act in this one. The story is very slow, and doesn't build up to... Read review

...Three classic horrors of the silver screen. It says it on the box, and that is exactly what they are - three classic horrors. The Ghoul is the oldest. It was made in1933. A Bucket of Blood was made in 1960, with House on Haunted Hill debuting two years before it. These are old films and were made when special effects was in its infancy. Days when people bled tomato ketchup and ghosts flew around on almost invisible wires. If you are thinking of buying this DVD, you will probably realise all of this already and not be too disappointed by the lack of modern technical wizardry. These days it is not unknown for the special effects to be the carrying force of a film. Special effects are a poor substitute for storyline though. No need to worry about that here. Without that particular crutch to lean on, the story has to stand alone... Read review
