France's very good attempt at mimicking a Hollywood action movie. It somehow doesn't quite cut it, although this is a good film once it gets going into the proper part of the plot. The film seems really detached in places, certainly from the imitation Hollywood action scenes at the beginning of the film, to the interaction of the main characters in the 2nd half. The music also was wrongly placed - it seemed to be playing where you wouldn't expect it to be. However when they played the music in parts it was supposed to be, it worked really well. The soundtrack on the whole is great - even worth watching the film again for. With 2 of France's absolute legends (Depardieu et Auteuil) & a gritty american-style plot which is enthralling in parts, you really can't go wrong with this film if you want to dip your toe in the world of French cinema.
