-- Before I saw this film, I did read some of the reviews, and I honestly didn't expect much anymore. The main reason why this film was said to be a 'flop' was because actor Vin Diesel and director Rob Cohen wouldn't work on this film. Vin Diesel apparantly asked too much money.(like $20 million is a lot these days) and Rob Cohen didn't want to make a sequel without Vin. (Do I sense a bit of childish behaviour over here?)
--Cast Paul Walker - Brain O'Conner Tyrese Gibson - Roman Pierce Cole Hauser - Carter Verone Eva Mendes - Monica Fuentes Ludacris - Tej Devon Aoiki - Suki James Remar - Agent Markham
--Crew Director: John Singleton(Boyz N the hood, Shaft) Screenplay By: Michael Brandt and Derek Haas Producer: Neal Moritz Executive Producers: Lee R. Mayes and Michael Fottrell
--Plot Paul Walker returns as former cop Brian O’Conner, who teams up with his ex-con pal Roman Pearce (Tyrese) to transport a shipment of 'dirty' money for shady Miami-based import/export dealer Carter Verone (Cole Hauser), while actually working with undercover agent Monica Clemente (Eva Mendes) to bring Verone down.
I got this from the official website, it basically tells the whole plot, and I don’t really see the point in telling more, because you don’t watch this film because it has a brilliant and unique storyline, am I right?
--My opinion I didn't expect much for this sequel, although I bought 'the fast and the furious' on DVD, because I loved that film. I can't say which is better, part 2 has far more action, more cars, more racing, but the storyline is just an excuse to show street races. However, the street races are better in this part. Sometimes they are a very unrealistic, but hey, what do you expect! So, if you going for the cars and the action, you can't miss it!
I believe that the original film had a better script and lesser action, but what makes the big difference is the absence of Vin Diesel. Although Tyrese Gibson(Roman Pierce) is a good 'substitute', he did made me laugh all the time,(he has a great sense of humor) I still missed Dom (Vin Diesel). Paul Walker(Brain O'Conner) obviously dominated the whole film, and I got a bit annoyed, because he kept finishing his sentences with 'bro'. That didn't fit him very well. And who also annoyed me was Devon Aoiki (Suki), that girl just can't act, with her weird accent, and strange look, nope, they should have asked me instead, lol!
If you're a girl, and you don't like watching the cars, but you go with boyfriend just to please him, don't be sad, there's enough to keep you settled for about 90 minutes. I mean; Paul Walker, Tyrese Gibson and Cole Hauser are very pleasant to look at! I personally did like the cars, especially the pink one that belongs to Suki.
Overall, if you expect a great, deep and brilliant story, then this isn’t a movie for you, but if you want to drool over beautiful, fast cars, then you just won’t wanna miss this one!
