Ok, so im writing this review just because I can and im slightly bored with nothing else to review (yet).
Set on the island of great Britain, this post apocolyptic survival horror wass directed by Danny Boyle and released 2002 and spawned the sequel 28 weeks later in 2007. The film is about a virus that rapidly spreads through Britain with in 28 days (coincidence?)
The story begins with a group of British Animal rights activists breaking into and animal research centre to release captive chimpanzees but are warned by a worker that they are infected by some thing he refers to as rage but as you could get they release the chimp which subsequently attacks and infects the people which of course then break out and infect the rest of the population.
The scene cuts out and we then see a young man, Jim, who wakes up from a coma to the desolate streets of London and while wondering around
is attacked by the infected but saved by molotov wielding survivors who take Jim to their hideout and explain the situation.
Jim soon wants to learn the fate of his parents but when he arrives at their home the infected break in and wound Mark (a survivor) who Selene (the other survivor) then hacks to death with a machete before he has a chance to turn.
Now, Jim and Selene make their way to safety but stumble upon two other survivors Frank and Hannah (a teenage girl and her father) who are hiding out in a block of flats. Frank reveals that supplies are running low but he has a plan. He shows Jim and Selene a pre-recorded radio message on loop issuing from somewhere near Manchester which talks about a military blockade and the answer to the infection. Obviously he wants to go there.
So the four set off and through the journey begin to bond with each other but when the reach the blockade it appears deserted and Frank then gets infected through the dripping blood of a corpse. He is neutralised by hidden soldiers who then take the three grieving survivors to a fortified mansion outpost where thye reveal massive defenses, food, water and weapons, perfect really. Major Henry West, the ranking officer then goes on to say that their plan is to wait untill the infected starve, simple. They also have an infected chained up for observation who is revealed rather casually considering the circumstances.
But next of the soldiers agender is the forced sexual servitude of the female survivors and Selene and Hannah just happene to be the only ones that fit the requirments. Jim tries to escape with the when he learns this but is caught and sent out to be executed along with Sergeant Farrel who insists that the rest of the world has just abandoned Britain to a quartine and are infact themselves perfectly fine.
During the execution Jim escapes into the woods leading the two soldiers in charge of killing him into a group of infected. Jim then makes his way back to the mansion and releases the trapped infected. As the numbers of infect grow and the amount of soldiers dwindle the following scenes show Jim picking off the soldiers and generally acting like an infected. Eventually Selene, Hannah and another soldier are the last ones left but Jim breaks into the room and vicously kills the soldier but as he is covered in blood Selene attempts to kill him but realises he is fine and are then locked in each other imbrace when Hannah takes it upon herself to try to kill Jim as she also believed him to be infected with relatively humurous consequences. Escape then ensues along with 3 alternate endings and a story board ending though Ill leave these up to you to watch.
The film itself is in my eyes descent and the sequel isnt bad either but doesnt stray to far from the usual zombie/ survival plots and events. Though it does have its funny moments and is quite imaginative in its death scenes. If your into these type of films it is definetly worth a watch.

Sorry for the rating but less plot and more opinion would have made for a better review.
