This film starts with us meeting Jane who is a bridesmaid at her friends wedding, the only trouble is she is doing this for two of her friends at the same time! She is having to use a taxi to get from wedding to wedding and is having to change dresses in the back, much to the drivers delight! Soon we learn that Jane has always been a big fan of weddings and has always dreamed about her perfect day and thoroughly enjoys arranging her friends weddings.
Jane is waiting for her perfect man to propose to her, she believes that her boss George is the one but that soon changes when Jane’s sister turns up. Jane meets Kevin at a wedding who is secretly writing an article for the paper on her as she has already attended 27 weddings this year.
Will Jane get her perfect man and wedding and just what will happen with Kevin and the article?
I didn’t know what to expect from this film as I had heard both good and bad things about it. I think the deciding factor for me watching it was it stared Katherine Heigl who I enjoyed watching in Knocked Up and also that I got this for under £5. I have to say that I was quite surprised by it. The storyline was good and it was very easy to watch. The ending was very predictable but this did not bother me as it meant I did not have to concentrate hard or watch very closely to follow what was happening. I will say that hubby started to watch this film but soon gave up as he said it was too much of a chick flick for him.
I thought that Katherine Heigl played a great part and she came across as very sincere on screen. I enjoyed seeing how she was in love with her boss and would get disheartened when it was not returned, she also had a great chemistry with her sister. I did not actually like the role of Jane’s sister but this is what the character was trying to put across, I found her to be self obsessed and only ever thought about her own happiness. I thought the actress who played her did a good job or portraying this. The role of Kevin was played by James Marsden and I really did like his role, he was extremely good looking and he did bring a lot of humour to the film with the way he was with Jane, there was a lot of good banter with both characters and this gave the film some light relief.
The film was set in modern times so not much time or effort was needed for the sets or costumes. The music to this film was good and I did enjoy a lot of the tracks which we had and I thought they were all very appropriate for the places which they were used and they did a good job of setting the mood of the film. I did enjoy the variety of weddings which we were treated to and I liked how diverse and different they all were. I though they all looked very authentic and real.
I did find it was amusing in the film when we got to see all of Jane’s 27 dresses and I did find I was chuckling at some of them. I only thank god that I was never subjected to wearing any of these dresses!
The DVD which we have does have some bonus material which includes:-
Deleted Scenes Four Featurettes The Wedding Party You’ll Never Wear That Again Jane’s World The Running of the Brides
I am not one for watching bonus material so I cannot make comment on if they are any good or worth a watch.
The running time of this film is 106 minutes which I found to be a very good length and the certificate is a 12 and I did find this to be suitable for the film.
I managed to pick this up for just under £5 from Amazon and it is also in Tesco for around the same price. I am going to recommend this film as it has a good cast, a good story and is the perfect easy to watch chick flick!
