24 has to be the best TV show ever. Its packed full of suspense and drama that will have u literally on the edge of your seat! I'm not joking.
Kiefer Sutherland is the main actor in all seasons and he plays the role of a government agent, namely Jack Bauer. Each season is based upon a new storyline, and in each there is a different terrorist attack in Los Angeles and Jack and his team of government agents do their best to stop the day!
Each season has a new storyline and lasts 24 hours in story time and running time...so its all made in real time, which is one reason why this is such an amazing show! It has a clock that's ticking on the screen pretty much throughout the show, which adds to the drama as you can see how long is left till the end! Often little time remains but a terrorist attack is still imminent! There are many twists to the plot that will keep the suspense going and there is a lot of action too so its never boring!
One feature I really enjoy about this show, is how the producers can make an episode in which the storyline can either develop a great deal, or not, and which ever is the case the episode will not seem 'too fast' or 'too slow'. Every episode is gripping and ends with a cliff-hanger, making you want to stay and watch next, and then next and next episodes until you've finished!
This DVD set is definitely worth buying....I have seen all 3 series multiple times and it never gets dull or boring. The storyline isn't predictable because it just has so many twists! So people...get buying because I know you'll love this show. Its a must watch. There are very few sex references in the show making it suitable for a wide audience. The show portrays events that are realistic and that could happen in today's society, unlike other TV productions such as James Bond in which one man alone saves the day from hundreds of villains pulling out unbelievable gadgets that make it a childish watch.
However, having said all the positives about 24, the main drawback would be the consumption of time. 24, as the title suggests, lasts 24 hours. The running time is a little less as each episode lasts 1 hour on American TV only, as they show 15 minutes of advertisements per hour of TV aired. Therefore each episode actually lasts around 45 minutes. So that means each season lasts around 18 hours!!! And there are 3 seasons in this box set. That's 3 different suspense and action filled seasons that will have you entirely gripped to the storyline, but will also use up 54 hours of life. Also, if you're like me, you will want to see every season again and again and again (because its just that good! :p) so really it's a lot of hours used up!
In conclusion, 24 is an amazing watch. It may take up a lot of your time, but I say its definitely worth it. The show has won numerous awards in the US, such as Best Actor for Kiefer Sutherland, best TV Drama Show and many others. The cast selected is good, and not full of the top Hollywood names, so you get to see a wide variety of actors and actresses that you would not always see in big hits coming form Hollywood. The storyline is astounding, and overall it's a thriller to watch! A HUGE recommendation from me!
