1PW Wrestling - Blood, Guts, and Flaming Tables DVD

Advantages: Powerful use of the medium
Disadvantages: Not for the weak stomached

...I'm relatively new to wrestling as I only started to watch WWF 2 years ago, and I too thought that wrestling was fake. I thought the blood came from capsules or a cleverly placed ketchup bottle. I also thought that the wrestlers 'pretended' to be injured and it was all illusion. How wrong could I be? "Beyond The Mat" is a very sane, very measured documentary about the world behind the glitz. It follows Jake the Snake Roberts through his traumatic reunion with his daughter and his addiction to crack cocaine, and shows how he was headlining WWF main events one minute then wrestling exhibtion matches in barns the next. It also follows Terry Funk who insists on wrestling even though falling wrong could end his ability to walk such is the punishment he has taken in the ring. Advantages: Unpredictable story line, good effects.
Disadvantages: The anout of gore

...I watched starship troopers the film because I'm scifi mad. I read the book before seeing the film and as usual the theme is the same but the story is enlarged as required to put more action in. The development of the hero in boot camp is very long in the book and very short in the film. But the film action, blood and guts and lots of it, all colours imaginable. Action, again lots of it but in bursts all well blended into the flow of the film. Story line - boy at school - falls in love - leaves home under a cloud - joins army - does boot camp - home town destroyed in war - earth wants revenge - serious battles - hero declared dead - o no he's not - serious battles - girlfriend dies - old flame in danger - rescue - wins the war - the end. Its a lot more than that but you have to see it to believe it, good special effects, nothing... Read review

Advantages: wrestling at its highest standard

...This is by far one of the most entertaining championship matches in the history of wrestling. The match is entertaining and last well over 30 mins. Foley desperately tries to beat the game in a brutal street fight which takes place in and out of the ring. This main event which successful made Triple H into the superstar he is to day and has Everything you want from a wrestling match "blood sweat and tears" Royal Rumble Match This is the annual wwf tradition 30 men fight for the golden opportunity to compete in the main event at wrestlemania. This particular event is entertaining with the usual comedic entries i.e. bob backlund as well as the more serious Big show. The match has a controversial finish but I will not spoil it for you.
