Picture the scene,England v's Germany,in a World Cup Final, forget political correctness, this is the one that means so much,to so many, for all manner of reasons, and yes it does it.
I had wanted to see this film for for such a long time,To be honest I always wondered, did England really deserve the win?or was it just another sporting ripoff and we were given the World Cup on a plate, because it was played on home territory.Well I'm so glad my fears were soon put to rest,England give it there all,in fact so do the Germans. All though, I like nearley all the rest of the world knew the outcome,It is still edge of the seat gripping stuff. I already knew of the legendary names and there skills, but one man really stands out,Alan Ball, they say the modern player is so much fitter and faster now, are they?watch this man, where does he get his energy from?and great skill, he was fantastic, nobody wanted it more. The Goals were all superb, but the final goal from Jeff Hurst equals any goal I've ever seen,I could describe the play in more detail, but you really need to see the film. From the Kick off whistle,to see-ing the great Bobby Moore wipe his hands clean before shaking the Queens hand, so as to not get her white gloves dirty. Then to watch Nobby Stiles dancing with there Trophy,it is just a fantastic feeling and a must for all England fans. Extra's.. Interviews with the players, and players stastics eg:What clubs they played for, before and after the World Cup.Goal Scorring records and Caps for England. Lets hope they make a similar film in the future about how the boys beat Germany in the 2006 World Cup final, and in years to come that film is reviewed.
Advantages: Gives those not born and those that witnessed it the chance to see England in their greatest sporting triumph. Disadvantages: Price is a little hefty
...only World Cup win from 1966 - we are regularly shown the infamous final goal "they think it's all over...it is now!" but with this DVD we now have a chance to see the full match.
The dvd features the original black and white BBC coverage of the match, with Kenneth Wolstenholme commentating. It features disputed goals, clattering tackles, last-minute equalisers and dodgy officials - the question of whether the Russian linesman would have allowed ... ...West Germany has been a regular question over the years.
Extras include an alternative match commentary provided by five of the England team themselves - Jack Charlton, Martin Peters, Geoff Hurst, George Cohen and Gordon Banks which is often humourous and filled with recollections of their memory of the world cup and the final. There's also text profiles of the England first eleven, a gallery of stills from the match day, three additional mini-programmes, ...
