Advantages: Fascinating look at 1960's crime in England Disadvantages: Too biased
...Whilst the Krays ruled the East End underworld during the 1960's the Richardson's dominated South London. Charlie tells the story of the rise and fall of the Richardson gang from the viewpoint of Charlie Richardson (Luke Goss).
The film begins in 1966 with the arrest of Charlie Richardson and then proceeds to show flashbacks of events throughout his life intertwined with the court case which followed. The film follows the same predictable pattern as the earlier Krays film.
From his beginnings in London the film goes onto show how he expanded his business interests to owning diamond mines in South Africa. The film deals with political issues and how he became involved with officials within South Africa.
The film is quite graphic in its portrayal of how Charlie treated his enemies and some of the torture scenes are quite graphic...

Advantages: Very well acted, really gets you thinking. Disadvantages: A bit too long, strays from original book.
...This film tells the true story of 18-year old Susanna's year and a half long admission to an American psychiatric hospital during the 1960's. It is adapted from the book 'Girl, Interrupted', written by author Susanna Kaysen.
THE CAST
The main characters of Susanna and Lisa are played by Winona Rider and Angelina Jolie respectively. Many other famous names pop up along the way, including Vanessa Redgrave, who plays the psychiatrist, Brittany Murphy, who plays a fellow patient, and Whoopi Goldberg, the nurse in charge, which makes for a film full of excellent acting. The film is adapted from the book and directed by James Mangold.
THE PLOT
The film does not have a straightfoward storyline, so much as a series of individual events and flashbacks. The film starts with Susanna's admission to the hospital, after a half-hearted suicide...

Advantages: Great biopic of the great man Ray Charles Disadvantages: a litlle long, could have been trimmed down a little
...This film is a biography about the life and times of Ray Charles.
The film holds nothing back and I believe it to be a very accurate portrayal of the man himself, Ray Charles.
The film begins with Ray waiting at a bus stop in the middle of nowhere, it is right here that you start to feel the overtones of the film, Ray was a blind man and he was black.
Jamie Foxx is an absolute genius never once in the film did I think that "oh that is Jamie Foxx look at the way he does that...etc". It was as if I was watching Ray Charles himself in person. I was riveted to my seat for the entire length of the film.
The film holds nothing back telling the real truths about Ray Charles. His struggle with heroin addiction. The film portrays, in the form of flashbacks, his early childhood and the death of his brother from which he feels a profound sense...
