**Whats Is It?**
This 3 DVD boxset is the female teenagers dream (believe me!) Containing the 3 classic teen movies "13 Going On 30" "50 First Dates" and "The Perfect Man"

**What's The Box Set Like?**
All three movies are in a yellow box with pictures of the main characters on the front. It has a shiny hologram at the right hand side. I actually don't have the main box any more as it think they look a lot better by them self. But it's still handy to have. They are stacked close together and look good.

**13 Going On 30**
*The Cover- Has the main character Jenna (Jennifer Garner) blowing a big bubblegum bubble. Very cute and sweet with a pink and white theme throught out the cover. This i suppose is to represent her teenage innocence.
*Who's In It- Jennifer Garner (Catch and Release, Daredevil) Mark Ruffalo (Rumour Has It, Just Like Heaven) and Andy Serkis (Lord Of The Rings, King Kong) So you've got a good cast. There are a lot of less known actors and actresses that have made a memorable performances.
*Plot- Set in the 80's. Jenna Rink has just turned 13. She hates being unpopular at school. Her only friend is Matt, her best friend and neighbour. At her birthday she invites the most popular girls in her year nicknaming themselves "The Six Chicks" She will do anything to be popular. When she gets the chance to kiss the hottest boy in school in a cupboard but finds out as a cruel joke it's just Matt she 'freaks out'! She wishes with her heart that she was older, 30 to be precise. The next scene you see a very different Jenna. Not a 13 year old one, bit a 30 year old one (played by Garner). So as she tries to figure out how she skipped 17 years of her life she has to go to work and find out what has happened to her.
She finds out her still best friend is most popular girl at school Lucy. Of course she is grown up as well (but is played still by the same actress!) Jenna finds she is the depute editor to her favorite magazine, Poise. She has got everything she has ever wanted. But she discovers some haunting truths about her adult self. She is actually a 'slut' but in the film it is put across softly. Also she never speaks to her parents and Matt. As the film progresses you see Jenna putting right her life and finding Matt. I hate writing the endings so will not but it is definately a fairytale ending. Will she go back to being a 13 year old?
*DVD Extras- Lots of different subtitles, Documentaries "Bloopers!" "Directors Comment" "Making a Teen Dream" "I was a teenage geek!" and deleted scenes. This was really quite good and bloopers gave me a laugh.

**50 First Dates**
  • The Cover- Has a commical front cover of a poloroid picture with Lucy (Barrymore) looking very confused and Henry (Sandler) looking playful! The backround is a hawiian theme which will be explained in the film.
  • Who's In It- Drew Barrimore (Charlies Angels, Music And Lyrics) Adam Sandler (Click, Happy Gilmore) Rob Schneider (Around the World In 80 days, Click) and Sean Austin (Click, Lord Of the Rings) You got a very good selection of performances here. You'll notice that most of them have been in the movie "Click!" A great funny cast!
  • Plot- Henry Roth (Sandler) is a happy go lucky kind of guy. He thinks he can be unbeaten by women and doesn't really believe in love. So when he gets to Hawaii to study about Underwater animals.
His quest is to get to Alaska to go and study Walrus's. Ok does sound a bit cheesy but it gets interesting. His boat has broken and has to go to a cafe to get repairs. There he meets the beautiful Lucy Whiteman (Barrymore) He goes and sits next to her and gets chatting. They hit it off really well. So they plan to meet the same time tommorow at the same cafe. Could Henry have met his match? So the next day he goes to see Lucy as arranged and is completely blown back at the fact that she has no idea who he is. The cafe owner, then explains how Lucy was involved in a car accident that left her with no short term memory and wakes up every day thinking its a Sunday and its 2001 (when it was something like a Tuesday in 2002)
Henry completely taken back by this decides that he could try and romance her as he really likes her. Lucy's dad gets involved however but agrees Henry can date her as long as he doesn't hurt her. Hence why the film is called "50 First Dates" as he basically goes on 50 first dates with Lucy. The ending is really funny and the comedy theme runs throughout. It does have some heart felt moments when Lucy is trying to remember Henry but just can't. A really good ending however.
  • DVD Extras- Lots and lots of subtitles, Blooper reel (some bits really funny) Deleted scenes, Filmographies of the main characters, The Making of and three music videos

**The Perfect Man**
  • The Cover- Of Holly (Duff) holding a photo booth style pictures of her and different characters in the movie. Very cute and white throughout. (I must say as an extra how flawless Hiliary Duffs skin is, some just get all the luck!)
  • Who's In It- Hiliary Duff (Cinderella Story, Lizzie McGuire) Heather Locklear (Double Trap, Money Talks) Chris Noth (Sex & The City, Mr 3000) and introducing Aria Wallace, shes only 11!
  • Plot- The story follows Holly Hamilton (Duff) with her sister Zoe (Wallace) and her mum (Locklear). They have moved all over America because everytime their mum gets a boyfriend it usually gets messy and when they split up they have to move. Holly has had enough of moving around again and again. So they eventually move to a little town where her mum gets a job as a cake decorater(which she is amazing at!) and Holly settles into a new high school making a best friend. Holly sees how miserable her mum is becoming and decides to make her a perfect man, well really a mystery admirer. So Holly made an email address up and started emailing each other. Her mums spirits are uplifted but Holly is finding it harder to keep her secret safe. So to protect herself, she uses her friends uncle as the person behind the emails. Will it all end in tears or will Holly and her mum find the Perfect man?
  • DVD Extras- Mom and Me, The Sweet Art of Cakes, Hiliary's blog(really interesting), Chatting with Chris and outtakes and deleted scenes.

**My Favourite**
I loved every single movie in this boxset. but i have to say my favourite is "50 First Dates" as it is so funny and i just loved it. And joint second would be "Perfect Man" and "13 Going On 30"

**Overall Soundtrack (Of All 3 Movies)**
Was really good. it has alot of teenage genre music in it like soft dance and pop etc. It has a good array between them. In "Perfect Man" There are a couple of songs by Hiliary Duff herself as she is a successful musician in her own right. That added a bit of personality.

**Good Selection Of Movies To Put Together?**
It is a great selection of movies to put together. These are the top 10 in teenage films. I loved each film so much and all are very memorable. This would be great for a girls sleepover as that is how i have used it! These are Mum and daughter films as well so this would be great to watch together.

**Classification**
A 12 classification for the whole box set. However "50 First Dates" is the only one with a 12 while the other 2 have PG. I think these are good fair classifications as these are really targeted to a young teenage audience and more older teens.

**Price**
The RRP is £19.99 which i think is a good price for 3 great DVD's which would usually cost you about £10.99 for one! Amazon are doing deals at the moment (Thats where i got mine) and if you have a search around to find the best deal. But seriously this is a great DVD boxset!

**Whats Right With It?**
Everything! You are getting 3 fantastic movies which will suite from young teen to mum audience. However i really don't see your son/brother etc watching it! Still these are great, girly, feel good movies and at a great price. Loved it!

**Whats Wrong With It?**
You may have to consult your teen in case they already have one of these DVD's as most will already have one. So it would be a bit annoying have 2 of the same DVD's.

**Conclusion**
A fantastic selection of movies! Loved all the movies and these are now in my top 5 favourite movie (Harry Potter and Bring It On are there) A great present for your teen or even yourself! Can't praise this enough

Great review Janie, Iloved your descriptions and the way nothing was given away but still remaining interesting, I love Alias with Jennifer Garner so like her films, Andy Serkis is a great actor as is Sean Astin.
