10 Hollywood Leading Men DVD

Advantages: Tense, good special effects
Disadvantages: Slow beginning, difficult to believe

...Starring Matthew McConaughey and Harvey Keitel, 'U-571' is a typical Hollywood blockbuster. The plot is standard boys-own fare - brave American Navy men take on nasty Nazis in their U-boats during the 2nd World War. From a weak beginning the film soon develops into an extremely tense action movie, with competent acting from the leads and some impressive special effects. I found some scenes pretty nerve-shredding but overall the viewing experience was pretty empty. It's a film you can find very enjoyable if you are prepared to suspend your disbelief to a large degree. It's historically innaccurate, so if that sort of thing bothers you - avoid.... Read review

Advantages: Some Superb Acting
Disadvantages: Very Gritty, Can Be Disturbing To Watch, Maybe Strays From The Truth

...I must admit, I would not have usually watched this film, if it were not for my Film Studies teacher playing it to us, right before the documentary on Aileen Wuornos. I knew Charlize Theron had won the Best Actress Oscar for the film, but that was pretty much it, so I wasn't going in all biased or anything. Charlize Theron plays Aileen Wuornos, a hitchiking hooker who meets teenage lesbian Christina Ricci. It sounds gritty already, doesn't it? The film is Hollywood's take on the Aileen Wuornos case, in which the aforementioned woman killed several men and became America's first documented female serial killer. The Hollywood remake has managed to provide motive for Aileen to do what she did. According to this film, one of her "customers" raped her, and so she killed the man, and then she went around killing other men who wanted... Read review

Advantages: This movie is light hearted and full of fun.
Disadvantages: It's predictable and cheesy.

...This film is easy going and doesn't require to much concentration to follow the story. It has a funny storyline that would have anyone in stiches and evn offers up a bit of emotion in the form that any romantic comedy does. I would say this film is not your typical rom com, it has much more kick! It follows a young man as he trys to behave himself during the lent period, you can imagine what he is giving up! Josh Harnett is reason enough to watch this movie, he is one of the most gorgeous men in Hollywood just now! This film is entertaining and worth watching, I could watch it over and over without getting bored! I would give it a good 9/10!... Read review
