Before you do anything, you must first decide were you are going to put your tank, there are a number of factors when doing this which can all effect your tank.
1) You must place your tank away from any direct sunlight and heat sources. This is because the sunlight can produce algae inside of the tank and you will be forever cleaning it. Fish like the temperature of the water to be between 24-27degrees, if you place your tank next to a heat source your are likely to effect the temperature of the water and possible kill your fish.
2) You must place your tank in a quiet area somewhere that isn't going to be busy with people passing by all day.
