...You have to see this movie! It is one of the best stories I have ever seen on film.
It's the tale of one man's obsession with making his vintagemotorcycle go faster than any other. Burt Munro is an old age pensioner who has spent over 25 years tuning and modifying a 1920 Indian motorcycle to make it go faster than any other in its class. Less than 1000cc engine capacity if you're interested.
At the age of 69 he has the opportunity to take his motorcycle to the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah USA. If only he can raise enough cash.
Needless to say he scrapes together the minimum necessary and works his passage on a ship to Los Angeles. There he buys an old banger and constructs a trailer to take his bike to Bonneville.
There are several mishaps on the way, but this is a great story with brilliant acting from Anthony Hopkins and the rest...

Advantages: Brilliant actors, filmaking and film! Disadvantages: excessive swearing
...As a spanish student studying the Cuban revolution I found this film an interesting insight into the reasons why Ernesto 'Che' Guevara became a revolutionary and how he was affected by his experiences during his 8 month journey around South America.
Gael Garcia Bernal plays Che and Rodrigo De la Serna (Che Guevaras second cousin) plays his friend Alberto Granado. A trainee doctor and biochemist repspectively who go on a journey of adventure and self discovery on a vintage motorbike thorugh South America to reach a leper colony on the banks of the river Amazon.
Like any film their journey is dramatised but the skeleton of the original story is still there, the sights Che sees that may possibly change his life are included to accurately represent Che as a human being trying to help others in despair whom we see throughout the film. I...

Advantages: An amazing display of driving Disadvantages: slightly cheesy production values
...Tony Pond was one of Britain's foremost rally drivers in the 70s and 80s, in such cars as the TR7 and Metro 6R4. Although he never actually won a championship event, he came third in the RAC rally and won many international events. He also circuit raced successfully, competing in a Rover SD1 in the European Touring Car championship. This association with Rover continued after he retired, and led to his attempt in 1990 to lap the world famous TT motorcycle circuit on the Isle of Man, at an average of over 100 mph in a Rover 800 Vitesse. This video is the in-car footage of that attempt.
The production values of the video come across as slightly amateurish, most notably in the cheesy commentary, and blatant plugging of Rover and Shell. Initially it comes across as an inhouse corporate training video rather than a commerical release. Don...
